Can I recover a deleted file on Google Drive?

To find and recover files in Google Drive:

  • On a computer, go to drive.google.com/drive/trash
  • Right-click the file you want to recover and click “Restore
  • You can find restored files in their original location. If the original location no longer exists, look in “My Drive

On an Android, iPhone, or iPad:

  • Open the Google Drive App
  • Tap the file you’d like to recover
  • Tap “Restore”

How can I share files from Google Drive?

To share a file from Google Drive:

  • Go to Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, or Slides on your computer.

  • Choose the permission level for the people you are sharing with (viewer, commenter, or editor).

To use Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides offline:

  • Open Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on your computer. If using Chrome, make sure you are signed into your desired Google Account.
  • Go to drive.google.com/drive/settings and check the box next to “Create, open, and edit your recent Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides files on this device while offline“.
  • To save a file for offline use, go to drive.google.com and right-click the Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides file you want to save. Select “Available offline“. To save multiple files offline, press Shift or Command (Mac)/Ctrl (Windows) while you click other files.
  • To preview offline files, go to drive.google.com and click the “Ready for offline” icon at the top right. Then, click “Offline preview“.

Note: To use this feature, you must be connected to the internet and using the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser. You must also install and turn on the Google Docs Offline Chrome extension and have enough available space on your device to save your files.
