hey guys it's prince rich with rich
technology group and in today's video
we're going to do a quick unboxing and
review of the poly vvx 450 but first
before we get into this review remember

advice to help you make the best buying
decisions when searching for new

of our content and so that you're
notified when new videos release okay so
this phone the poly vvx 450 is long
overdue a review the polyvbx450
while it is a little older than some of
the newer polyphones out there like the
ccx series and also the new poly edge
series this phone is a house favorite it
is also the bigger brother of the vvx
250 and the very popular vvx 350 so i'm
gonna jump into this and show you guys
why this is a super popular phone and
why i'm excited that we finally got our
hands on one but before we do that first
and foremost as always big thank you to
our contacts over at poly for sending
this over to us and big thank you to the
good old boys and girls over at voip
supply for coordinating the shipping and
logistics let's go ahead and see what we
got inside this box
looks like we've got a power kit and
that is a rare find there this looks
like our actual vvx 450 box itself all
right so it looks like we've got here a
package contents and quick start guide
is what this looks like here is our
actual 450 here i believe oh man will
you guys look at that that is a
beautiful phone indeed right there here
is our handset here is our kickstand
looks like we've got a cat 5v cable and
then last but not least here is our
actual handset cable for the handset so
let's go ahead and line up everything
we've got so you guys can see the box
contents okay so going from left to
right here you've got your actual
handset here you've got your actual rj9
style handset cable i guess it's an rj11
style handset cable then you've got the
main event your actual poly vvx 450. got
the kickstand for the back of the
polyvdx450
got your power adapter and again as i
mentioned it's kind of a quick
disclaimer this may or may not come
included with all different models that
you get and then last but not least
you've got the included cat5e or cat6
cable which looks to be 1.5 meters or
approximately three to four foot so
let's go ahead and put this thing
together and see how she looks all
assembled all right here we are with the
vvx 450 all connected up so a little bit
of backstory on this phone this phone as
i mentioned a little earlier in the
video is the big brother to the poly vvx
250 and the poly vvx 350. the reason i
say it's the big brother is because
while it shares the same chassis and it
looks almost identical in form factor to
the 250 and the 350 it's bigger it's
also got more line capability whereas
the 250 is four lines and the 350 is six
lines this the 450 is a 12 line capable
phone as you can see here total on the
sides of the screen now while that is
one of the main features that this thing
has the major feature that
differentiates this phone from its two
little brothers is this phone has the
ability to connect to poly's actual
expansion card the expansion module that
i'm referring to is called the vdx em50
and basically what it is is a digital
expansion module that you can connect to
the phone over here and it's about yay
this big and it allows you to be able to
have like further line transfer or
further line visibility capabilities and
things like that for this actual phone
so what does that mean it means that
this is not only the highest model desk
phone in polly's vvx series this is the
ideal phone for somebody who may be like
a front desk receptionist or some sort
of like a call router or call handler
within your business or office manager
or maybe even like the higher performer
or the highest call volume handlers for
attendance in your call center that is
what this phone is for is for just like
heavy call routing and heavy call
handling capabilities so let's look a
little bit at this phone and the
interfaces before we jump into technical
specifications so first and foremost as
you can see this phone has a really big
color screen it's a really nice real big
color screen it's not a touch screen but
it is color it's got your typical
function keys that you can see down here
and as i already stated it's got 12 line
capability with six lines on each side
now this does mean that with the right
voip service provider you could have six
lines for call capability and then use
the other six for shared line appearance
but that is the beauty of this phone and
the ability to be able to put the em50
expansion module which is separate on
this phone you could use that for shared
line appearance and i want to say i
think that goes up to either 36 or 48
additional line capability for transfer
shared line appearance and more looking
at your keypad here it's pretty typical
with the vbx series phones and pretty
typical with most of the polyphones in
general you've got your directional pad
you've got your back and your home
button you've got your stuff like your
transfer call go to voicemail put a call
on hold and your volume up and down and
then you've got your typical circular
numeric keypads and then your headset to
activate your speakerphone and then your
mute phone as well now one thing that is
a little different about this phone is
that on the handset it doesn't say poly
hd voice but i am pretty sure that this
thing supports polly's hd voice
speakerphone and everything looks the
same as all the other vvx series so i
expect the same level of speakerphone
and handset hd quality audio that one
has come to know and love with poly's
like really good sound quality let's
flip this thing over and see what we've
got on the back by way of interfaces
okay so as i already showed you guys a
little earlier this did come with a 5
volt ac dc adapter which goes here but
as you can see i'm powering this with
poe so we do know now that it is a poe
capable phone it's also got a gigabit
pass through here so here's your one for
internet and then here's your one to
come out to go to another computer it
does have an rj9 headset jack here and
then here's where our handset goes now
if you look at the other interfaces we
do have usb support also if you look up
top here there is another usb port
there's a one on the side that i showed
you guys and there's another one here
and i believe that is how you connect
the em50 expansion module that we were
talking about earlier okay so jumping
right into technical specifications the
poly vvx 450 has a 4.3 inch color lcd
screen which is 480 by 272 pixel
resolution it also has an adjustable
base height it's got two usb ports that
are 2.0 compliant and that is used for
media storage applications a headset and
i believe potentially the em50 expansion
module as well as i expected this phone
does support poly's signature hd voice
technology and it supports it for not
only calls using the handset but also
calls using the speakerphone and it also
transmits hd audio if you use it with a
compatible headset this phone is a 12
line capable phone which allows for
programmable keys and also includes
features but is not limited to busy lamp
field call waiting call timer call
transfer call hold redial do not disturb
one touch speed dial electronic hook
switch capability distinctive incoming
ring local three-way audio calling
shared calls bridge line appearance and
remote missed call notification and much
more so what do i think about this phone
what are my honest thoughts i don't even
know that i have any cons about this
phone to be honest with you guys today
so i'm just gonna really talk about just
the benefits and the pros first of all
this phone is very well matured in the
market again as i also mentioned while
poly has a lot of newer phones that are
out i'm still seeing clients that are
adopting this phone left and right the
other reason that this is a great phone
is because unlike some of the newer
phones this phone is well matured and is
supported by most providers some of
which are vanage nextiva ring central
dial pad zoom phone on sip and many more
the other thing that i like about this
phone is that it's got a lot of usb
support even though it's not a wireless
phone it doesn't have like bluetooth
built-in or wi-fi while you can do that
with dongles and stuff it's got adapters
and whatnot for you to be able to
connect like a headset connected with a
cable here it's got good headset support
either through usb or through the rj9
port that i showed you guys on the back
and then last but not least i love the
fact that this thing has the capability
to be connected with the em50 expansion
module pricing for the poly vvx 450 goes
for around about 250 to 279 dollars
depending on where you get it from so a
safe price i'll say is probably around
about 250 to 300 for this phone and of
course that does not include the em50
expansion module which is sold
separately and don't worry as always you
guys know that i'll have links in the
description below for where you can go
and see where to purchase it as well as
see other technical specifications and
things like that if you're watching this
and you run a business and you either
already have an existing phone system or
you're looking to upgrade phone systems
and you want a really nice phone for
your front desk receptionist or office
manager or person that is responsible
for handling the incoming and outgoing
call routing and call flow this is an
excellent phone this is a well matured
phone it's supported by most all of the
major voip service providers at the time
of this video and it's got a pretty good
price tag on it for what it is so i
highly recommend this phone as well as
this phone's little brothers the vvx 250
and the vvx350 which are also very
popular at the time of this video and
reminiscent of this phone so if your
users have to use this phone or the 250
or 350 they all kind of look the same
but just have a little bit more features
and line shared line and simultaneous
line capabilities if you found this
video interesting or helpful go ahead
and hit that like button right now
because that really supports and helps
