This video is a review of the Granstream GXV3275 Android desk phone. The phone runs on Android and functions as a desk phone with additional features of an Android tablet. The build quality is decent, although there are some design flaws. The phone has good call quality and the option to record phone calls without beeping. It also supports a Bluetooth headset. The phone runs on a customized version of Android 4.2 and has its own app market. It is surprising to see that it can support Google Play. The video call feature using Google Hangouts is functional but has some lag and poor video quality. The phone consumes different levels of power depending on the screen activity. There have been some issues with the phone not going to sleep mode and picking up fingerprints easily. Overall, the reviewer believes that the phone is a suitable replacement for a traditional desk phone, but is not as powerful as a high-end Android phone or tablet.
hi I'm David Simmons and this is a
review of the granstream g XV 3275
android desk phone this is a fully
digital phone you can't use it with a
regular Potts line
you do need a VoIP service or an IP PBX
to use it he runs Android so it's a lot
like having an Android tablet with a
handset and stand this phone was
released just about a week ago and I
noticed there weren't many useful
informative reviews the few reviews I
found were for people who are wanting to
sell me a phone and didn't go into great
detail or show the phone in action I
know cell phones so we're gonna take a
look at the good the bad and the ugly
the phone itself comes with the base
unit a handset a wall mount and ethernet
cord a handset cord a power adapter a
cleaning cloth for the screen and
various documentation including I kid
you not
your very own printed copy of the
renewed general public license the build
quality is pretty decent for what it is
does have a little bit of the cheap
plastic feel like everything else these
days you get from companies not named
after a fruit I do find that the handset
cradle is a bit awkward there's not
quite enough clearance below the handset
for the wire so sometimes sometimes it's
hard to get the handset back into the
cradle properly I do have one dead pixel
on the LCD here but I guess I can live
with that so when you plug the phone in
here at boots up in about one minute and
seven seconds one of the most important
features of this fine device is the
ability to make phone calls so let's
check that out
whenever you lift the handset the phone
immediately switches for the phone app
you know you put it back and it hangs up
switches back to the old app you can
also easily make calls with the
speakerphone just being the phone icon
here you hear the dial tone we can make
a sample phone call here
[Music]
the d'amour bank will be closed Friday
July 4th to celebrate Independence Day
one nice feature here is the option to
record phone calls which seems to work
quite well and it works without beeping
the party on the other end so start
recording and we're recording the call
thunderstorm I around 91 the
speakerphone seems to be pretty good the
handset has very good quality
unfortunately it's so good that the
other party can hear me breathing unless
I consciously move the microphone about
an inch away from my mouth so keep that
in mind sure to give one of these phones
there's also support for a Bluetooth
headset and it works about like you
would expect one of the compelling
features of this phone is that is
actually an Android tablet in addition
to being a simple desk phone the
hardware isn't as powerful as a modern
Android phone or tablet nor as the
software quite as polished I don't buy
one of these expecting it to be as slick
as a nexus he runs a customized version
of Android 4.2 and comes with an app
called GS market here for downloading
more apps from Grant stream and as you
can see one of the apps you can download
is the actual Google Play app and when
you download that then you can download
everything else from from Google you can
see that over here yet Play Store Google
is actually very protective of their
Google Play suite of apps and usually
require devices to meet certain
standards before license is granted so I
am kind of surprised to see Google Play
available as a download from granstream
so let's see how Google Hangouts works
here
yeah start a video call with myself what
and there you can see me from the other
end of the Hangout it mostly works like
you would expect but your video as seen
by the other party is pretty bad and a
bit laggy it's a it's a small cheap
camera and the device does seem a touch
underpowered we're keeping up with the
the video encoding I noticed a bit of
flakiness when trying to enable a
Bluetooth headset earlier when I
switched over to Bluetooth the incoming
audio became garbled and then I switched
back to speaker and the incoming audio
fix itself but played through the
Bluetooth headset you can imagine that
so also whatever you do don't lift the
the handset to talk and hangouts because
the moment you do that you're not gonna
be able talking hangouts it's gonna go
to the phone app as such and you'll have
to go back to the hangouts without being
able talking on the man set I've come to
the conclusion this phone is it really
meant to run arbitrary Android
communication apps very well if you just
think the core features in the phone
you'll probably be okay so how much
power does this use when you have it
plugged in all day I put a kilowatt
meter on it I found that when the
screens turned off when it's in sleep
uses about 3.1 watts when the screen is
on it uses 6.0 watts and if you have the
fancy screensaver with the photo
animation going it'll actually use up to
7.2 watts now I have noticed a few other
problems with the phone yesterday after
a call I the phone wasn't able to go
back to sleep as if some sort of screen
way clock was in effect so when I
noticed this a few hours later I lifted
the handset put it back and then the
phone was able to go to sleep again the
screen seems to pick up fingerprints
very easily I guess that's why they
provided the cleaning cloth although I
like the phone and think it will be a
great replacement for the
dumb phone that I have been using just
can't expect it to be a select Nexus
style Android super phone well I hope
this review was useful and thanks for
watching
The Granstream GXV 3275 Android Desk Phone is a fully digital phone that requires a VoIP service or an IP PBX to use. It runs on the Android operating system, making it similar to having an Android tablet with a handset and stand. In this review, we will discuss the build quality, phone call functionality, additional features, and power usage of this device.
The build quality of the Granstream GXV 3275 is decent for its price range. However, it does have a slightly cheap plastic feel, which is common among non-branded electronic devices. The handset cradle has limited clearance, making it slightly difficult to properly place the handset back into the cradle. Additionally, there may be some minor flaws such as dead pixels on the LCD, although these are generally tolerable.
One of the most important features of the Granstream GXV 3275 is its ability to make phone calls. When the handset is lifted, the phone immediately switches to the phone app. Calls can also be made using the speakerphone function. The phone offers the option to record calls without causing beeping sounds, which is a useful feature. However, it's important to note that the microphone on the handset is very sensitive, and the other party may be able to hear breathing noises unless the microphone is moved further away from the mouth.
The Granstream GXV 3275 supports Bluetooth headsets and comes with a customized version of Android 4.2. It includes an app called GS Market, which allows users to download additional apps from Granstream. Surprisingly, the phone also supports downloading the Google Play app, allowing users to access a wide range of apps from the Google Play Store. However, it's worth mentioning that the phone's hardware and software are not as powerful or polished as modern Android phones or tablets. It may not perform as smoothly as high-end devices.
When the phone is plugged in, it consumes approximately 3.1 watts when in sleep mode with the screen turned off. When the screen is on, it uses 6.0 watts, and if the screensaver with the photo animation is activated, it can use up to 7.2 watts. It's important to note that some users have experienced issues with the phone not going back to sleep mode after a call, requiring them to manually lift and replace the handset to resolve the issue. Additionally, the screen of the phone is prone to fingerprints, but the provided cleaning cloth can help with this.
In conclusion, the Granstream GXV 3275 Android Desk Phone is a suitable replacement for traditional desk phones, especially for those who want additional features and the flexibility of an Android operating system. It may not offer the same level of performance as high-end smartphones or tablets, but for basic phone call functionality, it does the job well. Keep in mind its limitations and adjust expectations accordingly. Overall, it can be a cost-effective option for businesses looking to upgrade their call center software and improve their communication capabilities.
