is a tricky subject to talk about it's
fun it's exciting everybody wants to do
it but there are so many options out
there to try and grab more market so
many different ways you can go about
doing it I wanted to talk about one of
my favorite ways for doing that in a
channel that is just performed really
really well for all types of companies
over the years and that is SEO being
able to generate leads generate
customers through search is extremely
valuable for businesses in 2023 and will
certainly continue to be in the future
there are a few unique reasons why SEO
is so powerful when you're looking to
gain market share SEO is a way different
marketing channel than most traditional
advertising most traditional forms of
advertising and marketing are a little
bit more outbound focused you're casting
a phishing net out there and seeing
who's biting you're buying a billboard a
magazine ad a spot on a radio station
sending out direct mail and you can get
somewhat targeted with those but at the
end of the day you don't know if there's
any intent behind those people driving
down the highway that oh yeah they are
interested in your product or service
um maybe they're your direct mailing
list is based off of certain
demographical information or people that
bought previously from you but there is
a a gap there where there's a hope and a
prayer that people who are seeing a lot
of your traditional advertising are
actually interested and you're speaking
to them at the right time
SEO kind of flips that whole model on
its head where you want to make your
website as visible as possible in search
engines and then you're making it easy
for people who are interested and are
actively searching for keywords related
to your business to find you so there's
a big difference between you know
traditional advertising a little bit
more outbound and SEO which is 100
inbound where you know you are
increasing your overall visibility
through best practices of SEO building
an awesome website creating really
compelling content on your website
that's boosting your visibility and
making it easier for folks who are
already searching for your products or
services to find you so to use an
example if your business sells golf
carts if you set a billboard up I don't
know what percentage of the the folks
who are traveling down that particular
Highway are interested in buying a
tripped out golf cart you could count me
in as one of them it sounds really cool
but let's say like a hundredth of one
percent of people who are passing by on
that road actually are interested in
that particular product you might be
able to turn a profit from that campaign
if I had to bet I would say you probably
couldn't uh if we flip that all on its
head and go with the SEO model you would
want your site to rank highly in search
engines for something like custom golf
carts or
luxury golf carts whatever your
particular spin is on it you can then
infer that people searching for those
terms who are then coming through to
your site are interested in your
products they've done a little bit of
research so you are then getting people
who are kind of pre-qualified in a sense
so that's fantastic if your ultimate
goal is to increase market share those
people who are searching for terms like
that are out there and it's a fantastic
way to capture them so instead of
relying on outbound based advertising to
try and expand the demand that's out
there you're just capturing more of the
existing demand that is already out
there for your products or services and
typically that's way more cost effective
way easier than to try and create new
Demand by
sending a mass mailing out or blasting a
bunch of people with ads about your
product or service so SEO can be a
fantastic way to increase market share
the actual way that we would go about
doing it or the the best practices vary
from business to business but we've seen
fantastic results over the years both as
a company on campaigns that I've worked
on for generating more market share
ownership by really leaning into SEO and
capturing that existing market demand
that's already out there by becoming
more visible to those folks who are
using search like most people do to do
research for services or products that
they're trying to buy
