Grandstream GXP2170 Telephone Review

for my money the best IP phone on the
market today the granstream g XP 2170
we're gonna take a look at it right now

mentioned in the intro we've got the
granstream - g XP 2170 IP phone today my
opinion for my money best IP phone on
the market we're gonna get into that
here momentarily first off just want to

phone on the market today why well a
couple of reasons first off accent sells
this phone for a hundred and fifteen
dollars or we rent it for just four
dollars a month as part of our cloud
service now after we walked through this
phone and you're gonna think about those
numbers and think man these a lot that's
great value that's a really reasonable
price point for a lot of features and
functionality the phone layout - was
what we find one of the most appealing
things for a lot of our customers and
users today people still want buttons if
you've got an IP phone at your desk
users want buttons and the 2178 delivers
it it's got 12 programmable keys and
it's got a variety of different pages
that you can slide through as well
multiplying that number of keys
exponentially so price point feature
keys quick access functions as well
voice mail transfer conference hold it's
all there nice profile phone device very
sleek modern looking color display
speakerphone
really got it all now we at accent we
work a lot with the little brother of
the 21 72 21:35 we actually deploy that
quite a bit as well
it's 2174 the features and the price
point as I mentioned previously can't
really be beat in the market today for a
hundred and fifteen dollars one-time
purchase or just four dollars a month as
part of our voice one cloud service
really can't be beat so let's take a
look at the interface here we're gonna
bring you in a little tighter here
momentarily we're going to take a look
at that 2170 display check out some of
the features what it looks like to make
it take a call we'll be back here we are
opponent tighter on the 2170 phone so
you can get a much better idea for the
keypad and the display so we've got a
nice LCD color display here as I
mentioned previously 12 programmable
buttons 6 on each side and then your
standard keypad with feature keys and
then 5 what are called contextual soft
keys so those will change with the
context of the menus that are being
delivered
specific to your call what's going on
with your call so if you're transferring
a call or you're creating a conference
call or you're on a call the context of
these keys will change and give you
different options so we're gonna pull
down a little bit and take a look at the
spool of the other without bad all right
standard Toki dad you've got your
voicemail your phone book transfer
conference hold headset you can do not
disturb keys as well and volume
multi-directional keypad and selection
key as well so quick feature function
access along the bottom of the phone
here for easy access to those features
that are used quite often span up a
little bit here take a look at the
display itself you can see we've got a
lot of BLS programmed on this phone so
these are live speed dial and presence
keys which if somebody goes off hook in
Mexico
you'll actually see light up red so I
can quickly access people and give them
a call if I'd like and I'm just gonna
end that call right now you hear an HD
quality audio on that we were using the
opus codec for that call the 2170
supports a full range of audio codecs
opus g.711 g7 22 etc we're hooked up to
the voice 1 connect cloud today and
because of that we've got a wide range
of codecs that are supported including
some of those HD audio codecs such as
opus your PBX or your cloud provider
might support something different though
so you will be subject to the codecs
that are supported for those platforms
jumping into the menus I can quickly
take a look at things like the weather
some different applications that are
available on the phone you can hit the
center button here you jump right into
the phone's menus we're not going to go
too deep into those menus today just to
give you an idea some of the
applications of features that are
available that's built on sip technology
standards-based so any sip based
platform the 2170 will work great on
accent is used the 2170 on natural space
platforms free PBX Soltis ShoreTel Mitel
and many other phone systems it's being
standards-based makes it very easy to
integrate into a lot of different
platforms and services as well you know
unique feature that the GXP 2170
supports that a lot of other phones
today IP phones don't support today is
the ability to integrate with a door box
system grant stream has a video door box
application that allows the video feed
from that green screen door box to
actually feed right into the display of
the grant stream phone and actually even
unlock in the door or provide what's
called entrance control for a business
so imagine the reception or somebody in
the back of the office and somebody's at
the front door call comes in
you actually can pick up the phone you
pick up the handset and see a video
stream of that individual on the GXP
2170 and be able to unlock that door
right from the phone and that's all a
good grain stream to Grand stream
functionality it's fully supported on
The Voice one cloud product platform so
even though it's to Grand stream devices
we fully support that functionality
through our cloud service and you know
customers really appreciate that type of
tight integration as well so there you
have it the GXP 2170 phone for the price
and the features and the functionality
the best IP phone on the market in my
opinion a lot of our customers agree
